<p>Diabetes melitus adalah suatu gangguan kronis yang bercirikan hiperglikemia dan khususnya menyangkut metabolisme hidratarang (glukosa) didalam tubuh. Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah infusa daun pare (<em>Momordica charantia L.</em>) mempunyai efek menurunkan kadar glukosa darah dan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi berapa infusa daun pare (<em>Momordica charantia L.</em>) yang mempunyai efek menurunkan diabetes. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental, dimana hewan uji yang digunakan adalah 15 ekor mencit yang terbagi dalam 5 kelompok dan masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari 3 mencit. Kelompok 1 diberikan CMC 0,5%, kelompok 2 diberikan Suspensi Glibenklamid, kelompok 3 diberikan infusa daun pare (<em>Momordica charantia L.</em>) konsentrasi 10%, kelompok 4 diberi infusa daun pare (<em>Momordica charantia L.</em>) konsentrasi 15%, kelompok 5 diberikan infusa daun pare (momordica charantia l.) konsentreasi 20% masing-masing sebanyak 1 ml, setelah 30 menit diberikan larutan glukosa. Diukur kadar glukosa darah masing-masing kelompok setiap 15 menit sekali. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian infusa daun pare (<em>Momordica charantia L.</em>) dapat menurunkan kadar glukosa darah pada mencit dan pada konsentrasi 10% sudah memberikan efek.</p>
