Abstract
ABSTRACT
Weight gain in KB implant acceptors is caused by the influence of the hormone
progesterone, which facilitates the conversion of carbohydrates and sugar into fat, so that the
fat under the skin increases and causes an increase in appetite and reduces physical activity.
This type of research uses a Descriptive Analytical research design with a Cross Sectional
Study approach, namely a type of research that emphasizes the measurement of the independent

dependent variable observation carried out at the same time. The population in this study were
all family planning acceptors who were in the Working Area of UPT Puskesmas Sumbang,
Curio District, Enrekang Regency, totaling 210 people. In this study the samples taken were
some KB implant acceptors who were in the Working Area of UPT Puskesmas Sumbang, Curio
District, Enrekang Regency as many as 68 people. The results showed that of the 68 people
used as samples, 50 people (73.5%) used KB implants and 18 people (26.5%) used non-implant
KB. The results showed that of the 68 people used as samples, 49 people (72.1%) experienced
weight gain and 19 people (27.9%) did not experience weight gain. The results showed that
there was a relationship between the use of implant contraception and weight gain in the
Working Area of UPT Puskesmas Sumbang, Curio District, Enrekang Regency with a value of ρ
= 0.001 <α = 0.05, this means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It is hoped that midwives
who work in the family planning polyclinic will further improve their performance in providing
counseling, especially regarding the side effects of using implant contraception
